We all go through this from time to time.
I AM STUCK! I don’t know what to do next.
Recently I have been feeling an overwhelming level of stuckness. We all know owning a business is rewarding and frustrating as hell!
I have digging deep and trying to determine some of the root causes of the way I feel and what I found was very interesting.
Lack of clarity is a big one. Back when I first ventured into my real estate and entrepreneurship world, I had a definite goal of what I wanted to accomplish. There was no dollar figure attached to it, I just knew that I wanted to be a Rehabber. I wanted to take ugly houses and turn them into a stunning new version of itself and give people the home of their dreams.
It was my creative outlet, my financial avenue, and what I eventually wanted to teach to the world.
I had a direct path and I loved the journey.
Fast forward a few years with a bunch of houses successfully under my belt and shiny object syndrome came banging. Instead of sticking to what I know and love, I added to the things I do.
Not a great idea.
Fear is what came next. I had some failures that shook me to my core. It has caused all of my fear mongering demons to come out in full force which has lead me to make decisions on what I am doing that don’t necessarily align with my true purpose and what I aspired to become. I was so clear in what I loved and my fear has kept me from moving forward again. Like that old analogy, if you fall off the horse, you need to immediately get back on it right away!
Well I got back on the real estate horse, but in a totally risk averse way. This in and of itself has made me feel stuck. I don’t love what I do as much as I used to and it is the most difficult path (in my opinion) with what goes into it. Fear can be the ultimate glue to stick you in a place of non-action or minimal action which makes you feel stuck for sure!
Bad Habits have come into my life and I allowed them to. I stopped prioritizing what was important and allowed myself to get pulled in a million directions, got lax on working out, and instead of doing focused work when I had some “free time” I decided to quit working for the day. You know, when the sun is shining and the weather is beautiful outside, it calls you to it and who are you to resist? haha 🤔Or the “I need some coffee” trip turns into an hour and a half of doing nothing important.
Lack of passion can lead to boredom and the feeling of stuckness. They say the gold is in the boring stuff. The goal should be to make your business boring, doing mostly the same thing that made your business successful in the first place instead of changing it up all the time. This definitely leads to lack of passion for the business. I found that I tend to feel lackluster doing the same things day in and day out, especially with the business is stagnant and not growing much.
Hormones, oh hormones. let’s not forget that these definitely play a role in your emotional state. I was just talking to a friend yesterday and we were discussing the fact that we should NEVER make important decisions a week before our periods because we are overly emotional at that time and it could just be our hormones giving us grief. haha
There are a few things you can do to reconnect and figure out how to get unstuck. I work through these when I get emotional and stuck in my own life. Also before we get into it, when these phases come around, it may be time to figure out if you are on the path you want to be on, that where you are now isn’t where you intended to go.
Get yourself reacquainted with your WHY. Why did you get into this in the first place?
Reflect on your original motivation Think back to why you got started in the first place. What was it that ignited and excited you? Revisit your early dreams and assess how the align with your current goals. What are your new goals?
Embrace your niche You were excited about what you were doing when you started. you picked your niche. If you want a new niche work on that and be excited about it! Live it, breathe it, eat it, talk it into existence! Embody it!
Set Fresh and exciting goals
If it is stagnant, it is time for new goals Think about a challenge or milestone you haven’t reached yet—something that excites you and feels like a fresh opportunity. This could be a new target in your business that you can get excited about.
Break these goals down into smaller steps to make them more achievable. As you hit each milestone, your enthusiasm will build.
Change Up Your Routine
Sometimes stuckness and boredom come from routine. Consider shaking things up by working in new environments, collaborating with new people, or tackling new kinds of projects. For example, could you attend an inspiring conference in your field, or work with different non-profits to expand your reach.
Try a new productivity method (like time-blocking or project sprints) to create a sense of urgency and excitement.
Reconnect with Clients and Impact
Re-engage with your clients and remind yourself how your work impacts their lives. Most business s inherently about helping people. Help your clients invest in their future, and their satisfaction can reignite your passion for what you do.
Consider revisiting past clients and asking for testimonials or success stories. Hearing how your work has positively affected their lives can remind you of the value you bring.
Learn Something New
Find a new skill or area of expertise that could enhance your work. Sometimes passion fades when we stop learning or growing. whether it’s mastering a new marketing tool, getting certified in a niche field, or exploring a new ideas and opportunities within your field could be just what the doctor ordered.
Focus on Gratitude
Gratitude can shift your mindset and help you see your work from a new, more positive perspective. Make it a habit to reflect on the things you’re grateful for in your career, whether it’s the flexibility, the income, or the people you meet.
Incorporate Fun and Creativity
Add some creative elements into your day-to-day work. This could be trying new ways of marketing your services, hosting fun client events, or engaging in creative problem-solving with your team.
Sometimes infusing a little fun into your work, even if it’s something simple like changing up your workspace or making time for passion projects, can help.
Take Time to Rest and Reset
Taking a short break or vacation helps reset your mind and restores your passion. If you’re feeling burned out, it’s okay to take a step back. Rest allows you to come back to your work with fresh eyes and renewed energy. When you allow yourself to recharge, you’re more likely to rediscover the joy in what you do.
Inspire and Mentor Others
Sharing your knowledge with others, whether it’s your team or new people in your business, can reignite your passion. When you see others light up because of your mentorship, it can inspire you to rediscover what you love about your work.
Try some of these out for a month! Well except the vacation part. I mean who wouldn’t want to take a month long break, but let’s be real…Not many of us can afford that luxury. How about making that a goal??!! Be able to take a 1 month hiatus for mental peace and still have a functioning business when you come back! HAHA I digress.
Definitely incorporate this into your life and see if that helps with feelings of stuckness. If you need an accountability partner, reach out! I can always use those in my life too!
Cheers
