You can’t cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water.
Rabindranath Tagore
I was listening to The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles this morning and one whole chapter was dedicated to visualization followed by taking action. The quote above sums up that chapter.
We are dreamers! We love to dream about having that beautiful house, that fancy car, to look at your bank account in awe instead of dread, a sculpted body, etc. This is actually a great habit to get into.
Visualizing yourself in the car, the house, the bank withdrawing fat stacks of cash, helps you have something to work toward. The problem is, either you go after the things you want by putting yourself into huge debt (not a good solution), or you decide that those things are too good for you to have so you are content to leave them in the dream world.
Of all the successful people I know, the ones who go the farthest to get their dream car/house/relationship/career/place whatever you dream about here, are the ones who look for the ways to achieve those things, set a plan in motion to achieve those things, and then take ACTION to get those things!
You can’t win a game sitting on the sidelines, just like you can’t have what you want sitting on the sidelines of life not taking action.
Action trumps feeling bad about yourself for not doing what you should be doing.
Action moves you closer to what you want.
Action allows you to feel as though you accomplished something.
If you don’t know what to do, take the first small thing you can think of that you have been putting off (making the post, learning the tool, taking a walk, reading the first chapter of the book, creating the process, picking up the phone to dial one person on the list, make the list of people to call, figure out what step one is and do step one), and those small one things equate to the whole big thing over time.
Success is not instant. It is a long game. You are in it for the long game. You get all your little heart desires in the long game.
What action can you take right now to get one step closer to your goal?
