My daily

Progressing through life is like a Tough Mudder obstacle course. There are many times when you are running along smoothly and life is flowing well, then an obstacle shows up in your path. You look at it in awe. What the hell! This looks really tough, but I am going to get through it. You are already fatigued slightly from the running you did, but this forces you to get creative. You need to generate strength and stamina at this point because you have a long way to go.

As you are running up to it, you start to formulate in your mind, the path to overcoming the obstacle. Maybe this one will be an easier one and you can fly through it no problem. Or maybe, this is the hardest one of the course. You will not have a clue until are in the throws of the obstacle. Your mind works in mysterious ways and has the uncanny ability to overcome many challenges before you even have an opportunity to consciously understand. Problem I see, most don’t listen to the subconscious solution. Your logical brain kicks in and you lose focus. You start thinking about the pain the obstacle will cause, how difficult it is, how far you still have to go, the fear of rejection if you don’t complete the obstacle…. So many flawed thoughts.

In life, many obstacles throw you off the path you had chosen for yourself. Maybe you fall on your face or maybe you soar to the highest high. Either way there are always going to be obstacles standing in the way of happiness. Life is the pursuit of happiness.

I have learned many ways that life doesn’t work. Many times have I fallen on my face, or skinned my knees, or bruised my ego. I am lost. I have lost my way. These are the thoughts running over and over on repeat in your mind when you are struggling.

I have always had the uncanny ability to pick myself up off the floor and push on. I still do to this day but it is a constant struggle. Vulnerability is really tough. it is hard to look in mirror and see that shinning happy face that once was.

Then something new comes along and brightens your world again. Love for life is reborn!

Looking at the way his unfolds reminds me the importance of planning and goal setting. You have to be able to see the prize at the end of the race! You have to endure because the only failure is giving up on dreams and succumbing to your own mental blocks. You CAN move past the obstacles. You can get to the finish line! You just have to see it! Eyes on the prize.

Forget about what you can’t control and take hold and run with what you can. It doesn’t have to be a huge leap, just little consistent steps daily.

Cheers!
