Was poking around social media this morning and I got to a video interview that Tony Robbins put on with a software creator. I went to the website, looked at the product, and thought What an awesome product!
Technology is so impressive and the rate that the world is changing is so impressive! They are building buildings and Live tissues with 3D printers, creating software programs that make several other programs, that cost a bunch of money every month, obsolete because they integrate all into one program! Jobs and skills are being redefined on the daily and who knows how the change is going to affect the world.
All I want is my piece of the puzzle. I want to help myself and others succeed in whatever their endeavors. That is what makes life good. It is not the service to one’s self, it is the service of others.
I was listening to an audiobook in the car yesterday. There were many questions asked of you in the book to induce thought-provoking activities. One of the questions was, of course, “what would you do if you had all the money to do whatever you wanted and needed?” Would you continue to do the same thing that you are doing now, or would you make a change to what you are doing?
That is a loaded questions. There are many things that people are passionate about. I love volunteering for the organizations I volunteer at. I feel at peace when I am at the events or sessions and the joy that my selfless giving brings to the people who are involved. I love being a part of something amazing that helps another human being live a little better life. I may have had a rough couple of years where people and egos and bank accounts were hurt, but all in all I am a giving selfless person. Business is business but I prefer giving my time to great organizations. The concern I have with that is that I would have to remain dynamic in the organizations I volunteer at. If you do something too often, it loses it special feeling and you tend to get bored.
I have found that people have to grow and progress in whatever they do. To do the same thing in the same way gets boring….I mean look at all the people who hate their jobs because the do the same thing day in and day out!
So to the question my response is this: I would give my time to organizations that need my help, I would find hobbies and things I enjoy doing and do them sporadically, I would work more on things that I enjoy working on. I would write more, sell more, visit more places, learn new cultures. I would continue to work with people to make them successful even if it is just being there as an ear to bend every once in a while when they are feeling lost and need someone to talk to who doesn’t judge for that is what I am! I am a non-judgemental person and I appreciate everyone for who they are with all their flaws.
What would you do?
Cheers to thinking outside the box of your life and looking for things that make a difference even without a million in the bank!
