HAPPY TURKEY DAY!

As I prep my bird for the upcoming gathering, I see the flash of my phone telling me there is a message.  I finish stuffing the bird with all the good things that make a cooked turkey sing in your mouth, washed my hands and picked up the phone.

Happy thanksgiving wishes pour through it from people that I adore, and I am grateful. I reply back with my own well wishes then on to clean up my mess. Now that the prep has been done and the scrumptous bird is in the oven cooking away, I decided that it is the perfect time to sit back and drink my coffee.

As per usual, I thumb through social media to see what all my friends are up to for the day and watch the funny videos and say hi. Up pops an instant message from my friend Amber, whom I adore! She sent me a recorded message of her singing happy thanksgiving and I realize how much I miss her. I well up for a moment with giggles and tears and put the phone down. As I am walking away, I think about all the times we spent together chatting and how important she is in my life. I set the intention to go visit her on the west coast very soon. I am going to go there once I accomplish the few very large things I am working on (which should be in motion and settled in a month or two).

My friend’s recorded message to me, really made me think! Sometimes you go through life and even when you are the worst friend because you are so busy with building a goal that you forget to make time to reach out, you have still impacted people’s lives in a way that makes them reach out to you! Even though it may be a holiday, they thought of me and sent me a message. I have the power, and so do you, to make a difference in people’s lives. There are times when you change people’s lives and maybe make them worse, but forgive yourself for that and move on. Most of the time, however, you make people’s lives better because you gave them your time. That’s all it takes to make a positive impact. It doesn’t take money or materialistic items to make someone’s day. It just takes a simple message to let them know you care!

My friend sending me that message this morning lets me know that I have impacted someone’s life enough for them to send me an adorable message. It also makes me realize that I have some deep friendships with people. Even when we don’t talk all the time, even when they move to another state, our friendship is still strong.

My mind drifts from that new goal to life and where is has gone. My husband and I have some very different things to be thankful for this year and it is exciting! I hope that you all have a wonderful thanksgiving day with all your friends and family!
