My Why

I was talking with a friend of mine the other day and they asked me why I do the things I do in life. Why did I choose to go into real estate? Why did I choose to join Isagenix? Without hesitation I was able to explain the circumstances and the reason that I am choosing to change my life and I wanted to share with all of you so you know why I do what I do.

11 years ago I was fresh out of college. I got my first corporate job. I was so proud of myself for achieving my goals of graduating college and getting a grown up job! I started working at a job that I loved! I got to see ground breaking medical advancements in their infancy state. I was able to know that the work I was doing was not only improving the quality of people’s lives once it was out in the market but also saving lives. It was very fulfilling work. It was a corporate job though, and with that comes office politics. Being a very outgoing person by nature, I wanted to learn EVERYTHING! I wanted to know how to be able to jump in and help in any capacity! I wanted to be able to have variety in my life of things I could do at work so I wasn’t stuck doing the same thing day in and day out. I wanted to be versatile.

That wasn’t acceptable in that environment and I quickly became the outcast in our group. People were protective of their skills and didn’t want anyone to take their position. I didn’t care though, I was going to climb that corporate ladder and be the best I could be, until I got laid off… the company was bought out and our team was reduced from 40 to 12 in an instant. Of course I was sad, I was scared and I didn’t know what I was going to do next. It was a blessing in disguise as pain.

I quickly got a job at another facility. I was able to be a little more versatile, but it was still the same political filled environment. Once again my ambitions were viewed in a negative light. I became friends with the other black sheep of the company who was well-trained in many things. He taught me everything he knew and was happy to have my company. It was so refreshing! I was able to deal with going to work everyday and be happier doing it because I got to do so many more things. Once again, the company downsized our facility and I was laid off. Ugh.

At this point I thought I should hedge myself against lost income in case my next job didn’t work out. I started looking into alternate methods of income I could do part-time, and what do you know? Real estate was a great fit! I bought into the hype, read the books, went to seminars, started meeting people! It was an exciting new venture. I got a consulting gig with a different company so I was there when they needed me and didn’t have to be when they didn’t. The best part was I got to be in real estate also.

The first year was a difficult one. I got hooked up with a company as an account manager for short sales. At that point the market had crashed and banks were still in the higher market mindset so I was not able to complete one sale! I had gotten my license at that point but the only thing I made in real estate was a $100 gift certificate from one of my clients for trying so hard! I got another job. This time in academia. I thought it would be a great place to learn because it was a teaching facility. Little did I know that it would be the worst place I worked in my lifetime!

I was so MISERABLE going to work every day. I continued to do my real estate things on the side but I needed the income. I knew something had to change. This field and working making someone else rich was just not my cup of tea. After a year, I left and went into real estate full-time. I became unemployable.

Real estate picked up for me and I got into investing. I went to all the investor meetings and eventually ended up being the right hand man at the investors association. I helped investors buy houses so I could learn from them, invested in my own projects so I could be successful. Life was good!  I loved helping people get into their new homes, helping seller’s move on with their lives by selling for them, and helped investors build their dreams! It was awesome!

I ended up going to a weekend with a group called Lifeonaire. The whole weekend was about looking at your life now, thinking about your vision for your life living on your terms, not someone else’s. I was messed up! I tore my life apart and rebuilt it on what I thought my ideal life would look like. At that time I was investing and running my women’s investment group and really building! They encouraged people to find what truly makes you happy and helped figure out how to make money with that!

I dug down and found that making others successful, able to live their dreams, and avoid common mistakes to catapult their business was what really what made me tick. I LOVE helping people and teaching them what I can! I LOVE making a difference in people’s lives even if it is a small one!

I came back raring to go! I jumped in both feet first! I had put together an untested team of people and picked up 8 properties! OMG! I thought this was the end all and I was going to get to my life’s vision quickly! Quicker than most! I was ready!

Well….it didn’t work out quite like I planned! My untested team turned out to not be my team any more. I ended up becoming consumed by my business. I spent less and less time doing the things that were at the very top of my importance list. I spent hours and hours everyday working. I wore all the hats in my business and stopped enjoying life. Obviously when you stop enjoying life your fire that burned so strong, slowly fizzles out and people notice that you are different. That verve that drove you and drew people to you has gone away and your smile is no longer genuine because you are exhausted.

I decided that I needed a form of residual income that I could count on so I didn’t have to do as much, could have more free time to spend time with my family, and be the person they need me to be. One of my good friends had gotten into a network marketing business and was starting to do well at it. I noticed her enthusiasm for life and her excitement for the business. I had her tell me about what she was doing! She was changing lives, coaching people and making money doing it! I decided to look into network marketing companies. I needed to get some health back in my life also because that is the first thing you let slip to the wayside when you are doing too much work wise.

I found Isagenix. I researched the product, the people and the culture of the company for 6 months because if I couldn’t get behind the product and the company, I couldn’t have passion for it and it would just be another waste of time.

I spoke with several reps because once you start looking for people who do something, they are easy to find.

I ended up connecting with one of the millionaire couples in the company. The wife of the team has weekend motivation and life transformation events that she packs full every time she does one, he coaches people in the business and together they are an inspiring, and positive couple. They modeled exactly how I want my life! The company’s mission and vision statement were very compelling to me and the products were amazing! I was in!

I am now a consultant for Isagenix and I get to see and be a part of the transformation in people’s lives (score number 1)! I also get to go back to the passion I had for real estate that I once had (score number 2) and I am able to see light at the end of the tunnel to get back to love in my life instead of work!

Boil it all down and my WHY is first and foremost to get more time in my life to spend time with the ones I love (my family) and make sure that they know they are the most important thing in my life! Second is being able to truly make a difference in everyone’s life I touch! I want to help and coach and mentor people while they are living out their dreams because the only way I can feel successful in life is if I am helping others be successful and making the people I love feel every ounce of my love!

Isagenix and real estate afford me those opportunities and I hope to help as many people as I possibly can through those avenues live their goals and their life’s vision!

Thank you for caring enough to read my why! If you would like to tell me about your why in life, please reach out! My email is kalmisagenix@gmail.com or use the contact sheet on my page! Let’s get you back to happy!!!
